Welcome to Newcastleton.
Hello and a very warm welcome to Newcastleton, known locally as Copshaw Holm.
The very first thing visitors say about us, is just how friendly the village and its people are. This is very true and we are very proud of it. Don’t take our word for it, come and see us for yourselves. Our small compact village offers a host of amenities to help you enjoy your stay. We have 2 hotels, The Grapes, The Liddesdale and a pub ,The Trap, and a British Legion, plus an award winning caravan site Lidalia and other local B&B's.
Add to that a very popular coffee shop and eatery, The Olive Tree, newsagent, hair salon, Post Office, Costcutters shop, Hardware shop, bric a brac, and excellent butchers to fulfill your every need whilst you are here. There is also a bank, (open on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays) and an ATM in the hardware shop. So what’s stopping you?
There are lots of things to see and do from walking, golf, horse riding and fishing to more extreme activities like mountain bike riding at the new 7Stanes bike trails.
The village is the proud home of the Newcastleton Traditional Music Festival, now in its 39th year, which happens the first weekend in July - book early to avoid disappointment as it is increasingly popular with musicians and visitors alike.
The weekend also boasts a strange event called the Copshaw Common Riding which is nothing like any other common ridings you have ever seen!
The Holm Show is a traditional agricultural and craft fair held the last Saturday in August. This is hugely popular and attracts many visitors who come every year.

During the Autumn and Winter months we have hosted the King of the Holm Bike Challenge Weekend on the Newcastleton 7Stanes track - not for the faint hearted! Other years we have held local Husky races. The village emblem is a Reivers Helmet with an orchid. This was originally devised by the Liddesdale Heritage Association as their logo and has since been adopted by the village and the school as it aptly represents our history and landscape; the bloody border battles and the peace and tranquillity of the valley of Liddesdale.
We extend a warm invitation to you to visit us, we guarantee you will enjoy our hospitality.
