FacilitiesThe Traquair Village Hall consists of a main hall with purpose built stage, committee room, bar, kitchen and separate toilets for Gents, Ladies and Disabled. The main entrance has a ramp and double doors which makes it suitable for wheelchair access. Externally, there are good parking facilities with a reserved space for Disabled Badge Holders and a large green that is suitable for erecting a marquee, holding a barbecue or playing children's games. The main hall has a floor space of 96 square metres (12 metres long and 8 metres wide) and dimmer controlled lighting. Fire regulations limit the total number of people in the hall for seated events, such as concerts and meetings, to 135 and 110 for dances. These figures are inclusive of children. In practical terms, however, 110 people at a dance is crowded and a limit of 85 is more comfortable, especially if there are tables set out around the perimeter. The stage is 6 metres wide and 4 metres deep, has standard corded curtains and a professional lighting system. There is access from the stage to the Committee Room which can be used for backstage purposes. The Committee Room, which is behind the stage, can accommodate up to 10 people seated at a table. The bar provides a full range of drinks at reasonable prices and, as can be seen from the photograph of the hall from the stage, there is a serving hatch to the hall. The kitchen, which measures 4.3 M X 2.9 M approximately, is equipped with a large single oven cooker, freezer, fridge, microwave, hot water urns and enough crockery and cutlery for 100 place-settings.
