Tweeddale University of the Third Age

U3A Tweeddale

U3A realised that Third Agers, themselves, have the skills to organise and teach in their own autonomous learning groups. So local U3As like Tweeddale were formed and since we learn for the pleasure of it, no qualifications are required and none are given.

"Those who teach shall also learn and those who learn shall also teach."

Peter Laslett

Tweeddale U3A was founded in 2004.  It now has over 100 members who participate in upwards of 25 interest groups.  It is part of the U3A ethos that these interest groups help one another to learn and discover more about the subject.  Each group has a facilitator whose role is to help the group develop their knowledge and skills but not necessarily to act as instructor or tutor.  We have an open meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from October to April at St Joseph's Neighbourhood Centre in Rosetta Road, Peebles.  If you want to know more why don't you join us at one of these open meetings, contact the Chairman through The Bridge, Volunteer Resource Centre, School Brae, Peebles EH45 8AL or visit our website - http://www.u3atweeddale.org/
