Foods MatterTrue food allergy (to nuts, milk, eggs etc) and coeliac disease are well recognised medical conditions for which, currently, the only treatment is total avoidance - a nut- free, dairy-free, egg-free or gluten-free diet. However, there are many people who do not have a true (IgE mediated) food allergy yet who benefit from a wheat free, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, salicylate free etc diet. These people suffer from a food intolerance or a food sensitivity and in their cases, their food sensitivity nearly always appears as a symptom of, or a trigger for, a quite separate medical condition - IBS, eczema, asthma, ADHD, chemical sensitivity, ME, depression or mood swing etc The Foods Matter website has a wealth of information including articles from their magazine, written by medical practitioners, nutritionists and dieticians, ecological medicine practitioners, alternative and complementary therapists and, in many cases, by the patients themselves. They include a signficant number of conference reports through which we try to keep our readers conversent with the latest developments in all the conditions that we believe can be helped by a gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free or any-other-food-free diet. They also contain a number of 'real life stories' by people who have had to research their own conditions and devise their own treatment - and are anxious to pass on the knowledge they have gained in the hope that the road, for others, will not be so hard.

Thyroid UKMany doctors seem to regard the diagnosis and treatment of hypothyroidism as a relatively simple matter – just run a blood test and if the results lie below the bottom of the reference range, administer just enough thyroxine to bring them back above. Those of you who have long felt unwell, suspecting that your thyroid is the cause of your symptoms but repeatedly being told that your blood tests are normal, may by now be thinking rather differently. If this is the case, you will not be surprised to learn that thyroidology is littered with mythology! This, the first of a series of articles challenging that mythology, explodes TSH as the ‘golden measure’ of thyroid health, blood tests as the only reliable way of diagnosing thyroid disease, and precision in thyroid medication.
My Body Language Find out about each nutrient in depth, with information that's simple to understand and easy to apply. The Body Language website is also a collection of 'classic' signs and symptoms that the authors have painstakingly collected, researched and expanded. Most of them are grounded on valid science, a few are 'old wives tales' that nevertheless have sound scientific validity, a few are anecdotal. Many of them are fascinating in their own right. ***Still under construction*** Links/Ideas Welcome. Thanks.
