EDDLESTON VILLAGE HALLThe Village Hall was built in 1927 on a site gifted through the generosity of the late Lord Elibank. It has been a focal point for the Community in the decades since then and well-used for a wide variety of functions and activities. There are presently 12 regular users ranging from pre- and after- School groups through Carpet Bowlers to the Horticultural Society. The Hall is also used for Aerobics classes, Bicycle race HQ, Parties and other functions.
You can keep up to date with happennings at the village hall through this page and you can also download financial statements, agendas and minutes of previous meetings from the online library REPAIRS AND IMPROVEMENTSMains Sewage Connection is now fully completed and we are delighted to report that the Village Hall is no longer discharging any waste water into Eddleston Water. The cost of this is being met by a combination of grants received from Awards for All (£10,000) and Lloyds TSB Foundation (£4,000) with the balance of £1,000 from our own funds Kitchen and Toilet Block Extension grant funding £102,000 confirmed - work started at the end of November 2007 and is now almost complete. Other recent improvements include: improved access and toilet facilities for our less mobile visitors, re-flooring the kitchen with linoleum; replacing teapots and cutlery; refurbishment of the kitchen ceiling; checking of emergency lighting and provision of spares; creation of wastewater drains and services for new toilet facilities within the curtilage of the Hall, sealing of worktop joints and purchasing blinds for one main hall window and two in the annexe In the past couple of years, we have - Removed the ban on alcoholic drinks
- Modernised the Trusteeship
- Gained charitable status
- Secured grants from Lloyds TSB & Scottish Borders CouncilC
- Rewired the building
- Renovated the floors
- Installed smoke alarms & emergency lighting
- Made Disability Discrimination Act improvements
- Appointed hallkeepers
- Altered the rental charging structure
- Been awarded a grant of almost £5,000 for new tables and chairs
STILL TO COME is a new heating system and improved roof insulation, for which funding requests are underway, If successful as expected, work will be carried out during the school summer holidays and the hall will be closed during the month of July 2008. Also on the agenda are: better overhead lighting and resurfacing and possibly extending the car park

OFFICE BEARERSAt the Annual General meeting in September 2007, Stuart Walker, Kevin Holmes and Fiona Holmes were re-elected Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Deputy Chairman is Robbie Smith. Vivienne Wilmut and James Taylor continue as Lay Trustees.

RATES AND RESERVATIONSIn order to promote its use by the Community, to whom it belongs, hire rates for local groups are modest, between £5 - 9 per session. Charges for commercial activities are not high at £10/hr or £15/session. Evening bookings cost £20 and a deposit may be required. These charges include use of the kitchen and are inclusive of heat and lighting costs. Private parties range from £25 for young children (with £50 deposit) to £35 (with £100 deposit) for older children and adults. See our online library for full Terms and Conditions
| FUNDRAISINGIn recent years, upgrading the hall has been a big priority for the village and as well as our own fund raising events, we have been helped by a number of grants and donations tirelessly pursued by members of the Management Committee. Efforts continue with the most recent being the preparation of an application to the Scottish Rural Development Fund for £150K to complete the poject If you would like to help us by making a personal donation, please email our Treasurer Fiona Holmes or give her a call on 01721 730689. This can be made even more effective if you Gift Aid your donation. With special thanks to John Campbell of Glenrath who very generously donated £5,000 to the ongoing refurbishment.
