WelcomeThe Federation acts as an umbrella body for the rural village and community halls in the central Borders. There are currently 25 member halls providing a vital facility for their local community. Almost all our member halls are owned by the local community, and all are run by local volunteers. On these pages, you can find out about the work of the Federation, where the halls are located and the range of activities taking place. |
| NEWSLast nights meeting with Jeremy Purvis was great, he covered a lot of good stuff and answered all the questions in a frank and honest way. We managed to approve funding for 6 hall projects so they are going to be busy over the summer. The Bridge has undertaken a contract to deliver advice, information and training in connection with the digital switchover. If you would like someone to come and deliver a short presentation in your hall, contact Rob Nicholson on rob.nicholson@the-bridge.uk.net or telephone 01896 755370 Details of the last and previous meetings can be found in the Library by following the link on the left.

| At our meeting on 11th June 2008, the speaker, Jeremy Purvis. MSP, very kindly offered to host a future meeting at the Scottish Parliament. At that time the members expressed an interest in making this the Federation’s Annual General Meeting in September. We have since been in touch with Jeremy’s office and have the following information. The most suitable date for us to meet at Holyrood would be Monday 15th September at 7:30pm. It was suggested the Federation hire a bus in order that the travel burden was reduced so this would mean leaving Galashiels around 5:30pm and uplifting passengers on the northbound journey. Once at the Parliament we could meet in a private area for about an hour after which there would be the option of taking a meal in the Members restaurant but this would have to be paid for individually. A rough idea of cost is: o Main Course (Chicken or Salmon) £8 ph. o Main Course (Lamb) £10 ph. o 3 Courses £16 ph. Whilst we appreciate September is some time away we would need to make arrangements fairly soon and would, therefore, ask you to give this some consideration and give usyour initial responses and notice of interest by Monday 7th July 2008.
