Birgham Village LotteryThe Village Lottery was set up in 2007, primarily as a fundraiser for the village hall. Villagers can 'buy' individual lottery numbers (currently from 1 to 100) at a rate of £5 per number per month. Once a number(s) is/are allocated and the appropriate finances are agreed (normally via a bank standing order), the number(s) is/are then included in our monthly draw. The draw is made towards the end of each month, currently by a local Scottish Borders councillor. There are three cash prizes per month and, at the moment, they are £80, £60 and £40. (If the numbers go up or down, so will the prizes). An equal amount (£180) is given to village hall funds each month. With current membership, this will add £2160 a year to the village funds. The names of the winners, who drew the numbers, etc., are displayed here on the web site (see opposite), on Doris Brydon's notice board and on the village notice board, beside the war memorial.
