Welcome to the Borders Fiddle Groups Website

The Borders Fiddle Group have recently achieved charity status and have just received a grant from 'Awards for All' (mainly for professional tuition costs over the next year). We hope to encourage other musicians - not just fiddle players - to join and benefit from our group meetings and performances. We also have plans to fund participation in various annual music events and workshops such as Fiddle 2005 in Edinburgh and The Border Gaitherin' in Coldstream.

The BFG was originally started in Jedburgh by Iain Fraser in October 2000, to encourage traditional music participation and appreciation in The Borders and is open to musicians of any age (although those under 16 must be accompanied).

Aside from Iain Fraser, various other local, 'weel-kent' musicians currently associated with The BFG include Jimmy Nagle, (Chairman and tutor), Wattie Robson, Biddy Chamberlain and Jon Bews RSAMD graduate, tutor and newly appointed Traditional and World Music Development Worker for Scottish Borders Council.
