Local Action by Local People

Welcome to Burnfoot Community Futures

This Local Community Action Planning (LCAP) pilot was undertaken to establish a way of meaningfully involving local people in decisions about and action in their community.

By establishing the priorities of local people, agencies and organisations should be better placed to deliver services that meet local need.  The community will be empowered to take forward actions that address priorities in the plan, and this has already started to happen in Burnfoot.

Brightening Up Burnfoot - Xmas Lights Switched on 12 December 2007.

Crowds, parents and children gathered to see the spectacular Xmas Lights Switch On.  Mince Pies, Santa and Raffle enhanced the Festive Activity.

Huge thanks to the many volunteers, business donations and help by local shops, the School Choir, Rev Chas Finney, Waverley Tenants Organisations (Gerry Moss),Councillors, Bill (Santa), Calum White and Sharon Halfpenny (organisers)...too numerous to mention.  A REAL COMMUNITY EFFORT.  Click on link below to view:

Burnfoot Switch On

The preparation of the Action Plan has been guided by a local steering group that brought together interested people from a number of key organisations in the community - a partnership representing as many interests as possible

A Carnival Day and a Community Workshop were held in September 2006, with both events designed to get young people involved, share their thoughts on what it's like to live in Burnfoot, and have their say about the future of their area.

The remaining funds will allow young people to deal with issues
identified in the Action Plan.
