Musk
Hi, That's almost a week we have had Musk (Musky she doesn't seem to mind the change) She is absolutely adorable wee gem and we all love her to bits. She is still a bit shy at times, but coming out of her shell daily. It's just like she has always been part of our family and she is spoilt rotten, quite the little princess.
RUBY Ruby wants you all to know that she has settled into her new home and is loving it. She sent us a card with her photo but unfortunately we can't get it on the web site. Truffles
Hi there folks. Truffle's here just to let you know that i am doing fine, have settled really well. I even have my own bedroom to sleep in, day and night, although i do go into the other bedroom at 2.30am just to let him know that I'm here. There are lots of birds to see from the patio door, but i don't bother them. As you can see from the photos I'm out in the sun sunbathing. Hope all the cats find good homes soon, just like me.Truffles Nelson
Hi everyone,I have been with my new family for a few weeks now and have settled in really well. Me and Molly get up to all sorts of mischief together, but we also like to curl up together for a snooze. We really are best friends, and our favourite game is tig round the garden! My new mum calls me Nosey Nelson, but she says it with a smile. I think it's because i like to know whats going on and what everyone is doing, especially if we have visitors.Thank you for helping me find my new home.Love Nelson xxx Milly
Hi, Just a short email to let you know Milly (mad Milly as we call her) is settling in nicely. We got her from you on the 6th January at just 12wks old.She loves to go hunting in the field over the back from our house and brings back many presents!! Oscar.
Hi all at BAWA,Its just 12days since Oscar moved into his new home-and yet it feels as though he's been here all the time, he's settled in so well. His daily routine consists of5.30am Get up, chase feet hiding under the duvet, then chase his favourite toys up and down stairs.6.30am Bed Nap.7.30am Food-at last!8.00am A very thorough wash.8.30am Check on toys and more chasing.9.30am Window sill nap.To be continued. Charlie. Charlie has settled in really well and he has learnt very fast which cupboard his food is in. He's such a trusting and affectionate cat, we feel so lucky to have got him first!! He had his first trip to the vet to be registered and get his claws trimmed on Friday. He behaved brilliantly which is good because he is going back in a couple of weeks to get his microchip done. Then hopefully we will be able to let him outside to wander.
Thanks for letting us give him a home and we will keep you updated on his progress.
TommyHi all, just a short message to update you on Tommy that we got from you a couple of weeks ago. He is a brilliant cat and has settled so well with us. Our two older cats (Lizzie and Rosie) haven't totally embraced him yet to be honest. Rosie does however accept that he sleeps next to her (with some space inbetween which i am sure will change) and Lizzie went in a real huff the first few days but is more accepting now. He is totally at home here and eats well, plays a lot and seems very happy. Very successfull rehoming if you ask us and Tommy. Thanks. George Hello, I write to give you an update on George. He is a wonderfull friendly, happy cat who has fitted in well with all the family. He spent the first few hours hiding behing the sofa but by Sunday no one could sit down but he was on your knee. I have never heard a cat purr so much. George, Lucy and Digger all get on well and the kids all adore him.
Celia Celia came into the centre as a stray who was found on a building site with 3 kittens. Once she had been in for a few weeks it was discovered she was pregnant again and ended up having 8 more kittens.
Hi all. Just to let you know that Celia has settled really well in her new home and is getting on well with Scruffy our dog. As soon as she arrived she just made herself at home. She is a cheeky girl and is always trying to get a taste of our food when we eat. Thanks again for letting us have her. Taz & Brian
I hope you and the animals had a good Christmas and New Year. Here are some photos of Taz and Brian as promised. They are both doing very well, Taz enjoys the quiet life and the vets says he is doing OK with his heart murmur. Brian has turned out very cuddly, but also likes being outside and hunts a lot.Best wishes for 2008.
Rupert, now often reffered to as "Bert", has settled in here very quickly-to the extent that he now seems to think he owns the place! He has successfully completed his mission of finding all of the most awkward places in the house to sleep...and after a month has finally discovered his own bed. He has been out and about exploring in the garden, and has even ventured over the fence much to our surprise. However he doesn't appear to like being out for too long, and regularly comes back in to check everything is still in order. He is also proving to be a right sook and comes to cosy in to us all from time to time, aswell as showing his affection towards string, slippers and old tatty cuddly toys...despite having had nice new toys bought for him! We're very happy with the way he has settled, and look forward to many many more years to come! Thomas
Thomas came into the rescue centre a week before Christmas 2006 as an unneutered stray male. He was found to have FeLV and FIV. Even though he had FeLV and FIV it didn't stop him going about his daily business like any normal cat. He was a stunning boy and was very vocal when anyone was around. He was nearly with us for a year before he went off to his new home in November. He settled into his new home as if he had been there all his life. Paddy

Paddy came to us from BAWA on the 9th March 2006 as a companion for Gretel, my 16 year old cat, who was pining for company, all her family having passed away one by one over the previous year.Paddy is doing really well, piling on some ounces, and loved by all including Gretel who always the haughty one has cheered up considerably now she has a friend to present with mice etc. Never a cross word between them either which says a lot for Paddy for she can be very bossy.Paddy is a great archeologist, he uncovered a 1st-2nd Centuary turqoise glass Roman bead under a tree whilst rolling about welcoming me home with the shopping. His 'welcome home' is always special and I know this sounds like a tall tale but it is true and Paddy may well ahve more treasure to uncover according to the Trimontium chaps who I took the bead to for dating. So Paddy is a dear chap, a treasure hound and a real gem himself! a more laid back, loving and gentlemanly cat you could not find, he is 10 years old and still wants to play all day!You can be sure he is happy, well loved and cared for, in fact I have no idea how we managed without him!| | Cody I was handed to a loving home last month after being brought to the Borders Animal Welfare.I'm really enjoying myself here in Ashkirk and spoilt rotten by my new owner, to the point I follow her round like a little dog!I have developed quite a character and am quite cheeky with it - if I say so myself! I do go out but I don't stray far from the house, which is a good thing as there are other cats around the area - however, I run back indoors when I see them. There are two other little girl cats here - but I can't understand why they don't want to play with me, they glare at me then run away..... I expect they'll get used to me being around. My name has changed to Cody - which sounds like Smokey, so I do recognise it! Apparantly it was a cat in the film The Rescuers....Hope you like the photo of me to pin on your rogues gallery! Aren't I handsome chappy? (Photo to follow)loveCody | | | Fudge Just a short message to say that "Fudge" is doing just fine, now that he is nearly 14yrs old he sometimes thinks he is only 14 months old. He still loves to sleep a lot and loves sitting on the windowsill and watch all the farm animals. Its about 9 months now sine HE chose to come and stay with me and still follows me about the house wherever i go. He now knows when it is bed time and beats me to my bed so i have to sleep around where he chooses to sleep. I will keep you informed on how he is doing.
Keep up the good work everyone and best wishes to you all. Chloe As you can see Chloe has settled well in her new home.
Pickles
Hi all,We have an excellent success story for you all at BAWA - We homed a VERY big ginger cat called Pickles from you last October. (2006)Pickles - or Mr Pickles as he is know now is the most wonderful cat. He has a very big personality and likes to do what he wants and we are happy that he does. He was a very large cat when we got him and he hasn't decreased in size as you can see from his pictures. He is the best thing we have done. He can be a crabby and tends to over indulge in moles and small rabbits in the summer months but we love him all the same. He loves to crawl up on you whenever he can!! He settled right in and was out and about within hours, he loves to explore. Thank you for bringing us together, thats from Mr P aswell.Lisa, Nick and Mr Pickles. Libby Libby came to us as a stray from Edinburgh and was thought to be around 16yrs old. She was found by some builders in a very bad state at the bottom of a garden.
Libby has settled in well to our home. She is a very loving wee cat. She is eating well ,sleeping on the best seat in the house and getting under our feet looking for food. Libby goes out in the garden if it is a warm but prefers inside. Ailsa, our own cat and Libby tolerate each other but no love is lost. When i brought Libby home she came out her box and went straight to her food bowl, ate her fill, used the litter tray, jumped up on my knee let out a huge sigh and fell asleep. It was like she was glad to be home. Sooty and Kiara
Hi, Just thought we'd drop you a line to let you know how Sooty and Kiara (originally called Navava) are getting on. They settled in very quickly and are very much part of the family. The good thing is that Neil doesn't seem to be allergic to them which is a great relief. We love having them around and they really are the cutest cats ever and just love all the attention they are getting! They haven't been outside yet but i think i will try letting them out for a little while this weekend. I have attached some photos. The only problem we have is that Sooty plonks herself down on the computer keyboard everytime anyone tries to type so if there is any spelling mistakes then blame Sooty! Thanks for finding us these two very special cats. |

TeriTeri has settled in well in his new home - at last! He has been a challenge - able to open all the cupboard doors in the kitchen and wee in them - lots of pots to wash! We now have child proof locks on the doors and this seems to have cured him.He would not go outside for about a month. I don't think he had ever been out but now he can catch mice with the best of them and spends most of the time outside. He still doe not ge on too well with our other cat but they just ignore each other - but no problem with our lurcher. - Teri is the boss!

Bobby & SusieTo all at the BAWA, Susie and Bobby came to live with us back in June, and it is hard to remember what life was like without them.
They seemed to have a great time playing in the backyard over the summer, most of it spent, of course, just lying about in the sunshine. Now they tend to spend their days on the sofa, only popping out if it’s not too cold and not raining. Susie has even finally mastered the cat door.
At night time they both have a soft cushion in our bedroom to sleep on which they both usually retire to quite early in the evening. There’s no swapping around or sharing though. It’s very definite who owns which cushion.
Susie is her usual ‘tarty’ self, baring her belly to anyone that looks as though they might rub it. She has a special we bond with her ‘Dad’ and they enjoy special ‘cuddle and belly rub’ time every morning.
The most wonderful thing has been the change in Bobby over the past few weeks. He had always been quite ‘stand off-ish’, having a scratch under the chin when he wanted, and disappearing if there were too many people around. But ever since the arrival of our wee boy at the end of October he has been a different cat. From the day David came home Bobby has been very attentive to him, even to the point of giving the midwife an extremely nasty look when she did a blood test and made him cry. Bobby will now curl up on the sofa next to us, and even walks up and meows to let us know he wants a pat or a scratch. The most entertaining is the disgruntled look he gives when there are too many people in the living room and no seat left for him. It is now well and truly his house. We have been enjoying watching the development of the website, and reading the stories of successful rehomings. You all do a truly wonderful job. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas.
Philippa, Neil, David, Bobby & Susie xxxxx
