WELCOME TO THE BORDERS ANIMAL WELFARE WEB SITE
DUMPED
This cat was dumped at our gates on 17th November. We are appealing to the owner to come forward so we can find out as much as we can about this wee cat so we can find the best possible home.
OUR CENTRE
We operate an appointment system for viewing animals as the staff are busy caring for the animals and need to plan to allow you to spend time with the animal you are interested in. Our Animal Centre is open from 8am to 8pm every Saturday and Sunday and 8am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm every other day. We introduce the dogs and help them to socialise with each other so they are out in the yard or the reception if it is bad weather. This means they are out of their kennels as much as possible. We are closed between 1 and 3pm to allow the dogs down time in their kennels. The cats are also socialised with each other and allowed access to an indoor and outdoor area for exercise at all times. We are just replacing our small animals hutches and runs so donations to help with the cost would be greatly appreciated.
October, October has again been a very busy time at the Centre. We hve had a lot of kittens from a feral colony who have been successfuly re-homed. Some of them proved a challenge in the begininng to socialise but the efforts of the staff and volunteers worked wonders. We try as best we can to foster kittens as this is the best start for them. Our longest serving dog Joey found a lovely home where he has settled in really well. Think he is now at the stage of having his feet under the table and starting to challenge the boundaries a bit. So normal dog behaviour at that stage!! Hedgehogs are starting to come and stay with us but so far not as many as last year, so fingers crossed. The Charity Shop has had a significant and sustained increase in income since the end of July which means we are always in need of items in good condition to sell for the benefit of the Centre. We are making some changes to safeguard the volunteers and will decorate as soon as the work on the building is complete. It does seem to take an awful long time for this!
BAWA web team | AIMS: To try and relieve the suffering of animals in the Scottish Borders who come into our care. Borders Animal Welfare take in dogs, cats and small animals that are no longer able to be looked after in their present homes for whatever reason. We receive no funding from any local authority and rely totally on donations from the public to fund our work. We have successfully rehomed hundreds of animals within the Scottish Borders and further afield. We employ staff trained in dog and cat care with experience in the assessment in both the health and training needs of the animals. We provide training to all the dogs that come into our care so we ensure that they are homed as quickly as possible and with the best possible chance of success. We have a strict No Kill policy | | | | | | | | |
