CVS Network Targets The following targets apply to the CVS network as a whole and cover the period from 1st April 2005 until 31st March 2008. The purpose of the targets is to highlight at national level the strategic activity of CVS and the difference they make to voluntary organisations and communities across Scotland. At a local level, each of the four Scottish Borders CVS are working to these targets, but in response to local circumstances and demand. Network activity is collated and highlighted at national level. Understanding the Voluntary Sector CVS will hold up to date information on the local voluntary sector. Communicating with the Voluntary Sector CVS will provide relevant up-to-date information to the local voluntary sector, facilitate networking between organisations and promote opportunities for them to respond to emerging issues and consultations. Representing the interests of the local Voluntary Sector CVS will work to ensure their representation at the strategic level of every Community Planning Partnership in Scotland and will facilitate voluntary sector participation in thematic community planning forums. Providing support services CVS will provide support services to the voluntary sector on business planning, legal frameworks, management and monitoring and evaluation and will support the generation of additional income for the sector. Promoting good practice CVS will develop the skills and knowledge of those operating at all levels of the local voluntary sector, seeking to improve standards in management, policy implementation and service delivery through training events for staff and volunteers. Growing the sector CVS will support the emergence of new groups in response to local issues and needs, strengthen the capacity of existing organisations through training and support and identify the economic value of the local voluntary sector.
