The Lasses, O
This was a very good production. Our tutor, Catherine Hadshar, took some of our group to see this play. To start with there were five of us in the car. It was a small car, really just suitable for four. But the three of us in the back, were not very dainty. Now at one point in the journey, as we turned a corner, there was police car up front. William, who was in the middle, did not have a seat belt on, so Kate and I had to try and get it on, I think that we nearly choked him in the process, there was some hilarity in the back seat. So that was good start to the evening. The play was about Robert Burns from the day he was born right through. There was just the one actress, Gerda Stevenson, and she did a very good job, all the different nuances, also the musicians, they did a very good job, using the instruments to give different sounds, like thunder, strong winds, and gave it a really good atmosphere. The play was written by Janet Paisley, she is an award winning poet, playwright, author and scriptwriter, in Scots and English. The musicians, Seylan Baxter, Lillias, Kinsman-Blake& Rachel Newton, they got an award at CATS (critics award for theatre in Scotland.) They were given the award for the best use of music & sound.
