Langlee Midi Youth Club The young members of Langlee Midi Youth Club have recently completed their art project. They have painted a mural on the wall of the pedestrian underpass at Marigold Drive. The youth club members had identified the underpass as an area in need of a facelift. A year ago the club embarked upon a photographic project that sought to identify those areas in Langlee in need of some attention or were of interest or concern to club members. The underpass came tops as the area causing most concern. The walls were covered in graffiti; the place was dark and uninviting. Few people seemed to be using the underpass and there was a road safety concern for people crossing the busy Hawthorn Road. The Midis thought that if they painted the place, it would brighten things up and be more inviting for people to use, thus reducing the risk of road accidents. Permission from the Council was given for the project to go ahead. Funding was sought and provided by Community Learning and Connecting Communities.

| In the weeks leading up to the actual painting, the Midis worked on their ideas with youth leaders and community artist Andrew Boyle. Andrew took those ideas into consideration and came up with the final design. The actual painting was done over the course of one weekend. Bob Petrie, Senior Community Learning Worker stated: "It's quite a stunning piece of work. The young people worked really hard and have produced a feature in Langlee that they can be really proud of." The comments of passers-by, young and old, have all been positive and complimentary.
