Literacies Strategic Plan 2006-2008: Summary of Outcome Targets and Outputs

| Outcome target 1.
We will make literacies issues and provision visible in targeted regeneration areas
| i) We will develop, implement and evaluate an annual marketing and awareness raising strategy
ii) We will develop an awareness raising project – for learners by learners
iii) We will ensure that learners and partners receive accessible information
| Outcome Target 2
We will direct financial and staffing resources to identified areas of need
| i) We will identify proxy indicators to inform a “map” of literacies need across the Borders
ii) We will involve partners in sharing information about literacies unmet need
iii) We will support BALSA(learners forum) to consult with learners about their needs
| Outcome target 3
We will support 460-470 individuals per year to achieve their ILP goals in targeted regeneration areas and across identified themes
| i) We will co-ordinate, resource and implement local geographical partnership action plans in targeted areas
ii) We will provide and support integrated literacies to some vocational courses/training
iii) We will ensure that learners in community provision can get qualifications if they want to
iv) We will support 6 small and medium enterprises and 2 large organisations to have Literacies Learning available in the workplace
v) We will provide free childcare in targeted areas
vi) We will provide free all age guidance/career planning in targeted opportunities
| Outcome target 4.
We will maintain and raise the quality of literacies provision to LIC level 3-4
| i) We will involve partners, practitioners and learners in an annual evaluation of their experience of learning opportunities and organisation
ii) We will develop, implement and monitor partners annual improvement plans
iii) We will manage a small Challenge Fund to support resource grants and tutor hours for partners
| Outcome target 5.
We will train partnership staff and volunteers
| i) We will develop and implement an annual training plan to deliver partnership and Learning Connections training priorities
ii) We will support practitioners and volunteers to put training into practice through creation of practice tutor role or equivalent
iii) We will ensure that Youth Workers get appropriate Youth Literacies training
