TRAININGThere are a number of training initiatives to help unemployed people get back to work.
Training for Work (TFW)is a government programme which provides training support for people who are unemployed and actively looking for work. The programme - run by Scottish Enterprise - allows people to go on company placements and tap into formal training. In many cases, the trainees move into a full-time job. Trainees receive help from a network of training providers catering for a wide variety of skills and occupations. The programme is backed by local employers who provide on-the-job training. Participants are paid a “training allowance” which is equivalent to their benefits plus £10 a week. If the trainee gets a job out of the scheme they’ll be paid the rate for the job. The Scottish Enterprise website www.scottish-enterprise.com/TrainingforWork offers further information on this scheme. If you are a potential trainee contact your local Jobcentre Plus
