Library ServicesThe Scottish Borders Library Service is well stocked to support adult learning and keen to promote it. There are 12 libraries in the Scottish Borders and mobile libraries visit places which do not have a library.
From your library you may: - borrow any book in stock
- request books from other branches
- borrow books from anywhere in the UK through the Inter Library Loan Scheme
- use learning materials for work, study or leisure
- have access to a wide range of reference materials
- take advantage of language courses available
Search our directory for a library close to you. All libraries have computer facilities with PCs for public use. The internet is available and can be accessed free of charge. From time to time the libraries offer taster sessions for the public to gain experience at using computers and accessing on line learning. In addition, the library service runs a computer bus service which offers computer training in remote locations. As well as books, all libraries (including mobile libraries) stock Talking Books, large print books, videos, newspapers and CD-ROMs. In addition fax machines, photocopiers, community information, council information and local history are available in most of the static libraries.
