Borders NHS Board is responsible for improving the health of the people of the Scottish Borders. In ensuring the best possible health for people in the Borders, our priorities are: - Prevention of disease

- Accessible services - both by location and low waiting times

- Cost-effective care
- Responding to the public
This is done by working closely with the family doctors, dentists, pharmacists, opticians and other organisations throughout the Borders and by making arrangements with NHS Borders to provide appropriate hospital and community care. We are also responsible for monitoring communicable diseases.
