This Group was formed in September 2002 by Dr. Dorothy Logie and others. Dr. Logie's husband, Dr. Sandy Logie, died in 2001 from AIDS, contracted as a result of a needlestick injury in the course of his medical services at St. Francis Hospital, Zambia. The Group's initial purpose was to assist with funding of the Sandy Logie Clinic at the hospital, named in his memory. Further information about the hospital can be found at www.saintfrancishospital.net.
The Group has since become a Registered Charity. Our income comes through members' subscriptions and donations, and from fund-raising events. The subscriptions cover all admin expenses, so we can guarantee that all donations go 100% directly to AIDS-related projects in Africa, including of course the Sandy Logie Clinic - projects known to our members. Most projects are currently in Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.
